Route number 3

In the Nan province, a scenic patch of roadway called Road 3 is becoming a popular and very photogenic tourist destination.

The road has been nicknamed Road No 3 because its turns make it look like the number three.

Highway 1081 cut through the beautiful hillsides of the northern province connecting the Bo Kluea district to the Santi Suk district.

Nan coffee and chocolate productions

Highland areas in Thailand suffer from deforestation due to overproduction of maize and more ecologically favourable crops such as coffee or cacao were perceived as attractive alternatives.

Beyond the obvious option to export coffee and cacao, policy schemes are being enacted to promote local production for local consumption.

A domestic boom in coffee consumption and shifting cultural values toward the practice of coffee drinking has, put farmers in a position to benefit by cashing in on “local coffee” and improving environmental conditions.

Both productions of coffee and cacao are today real assets for the region thanks, of course also, of the quality of the productions.
